What’s going on in the building?

Due to the weather, today’s safety drill has been postponed until next week when the weather is supposed to be much warmer and less snowy.

Intramural hours have changed just for basketball season. The hours are now 2:20-3:00, the days are still the same just an earlier pick up time.

The Afterschool Bowling Program will start in January.  If you are interested in Afterschool Bowling, pick up a flyer in the Student Hub.

The next student council meeting is today from 2:15-3.  If you have not picked up your student council t-shirt, please stop by Mrs. Nidiffer's room, 2507.  Wear your shirts on Tuesday!

Transportation is trying to FILL THE BUS with non -perishable food items.  Please bring in any donations to the box in the office by this Friday, November 15.

Students, don’t forget in the upcoming weeks to bring all coats, gloves, hats, etc. with you to lunch as we will continue to go outside for recess and you need to be prepared to go straight outside after lunch.  We will continue to go outside until temps drop below freezing. TODAY WE WILL HAVE INSIDE RECESS.

Attention 7th and 8th graders who like to write creative stories! Power of the Pen is a writing competition that might be for you! Come to the informational meeting in Mrs. Minton's room 2614 after school today. Be prepared to do some writing at the meeting. This meeting is not a commitment to the group. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Minton during Flex or email her.

Believe it or not, it is that time of year again that we start having our annual College Credit Plus (CCP) meetings for students to participate in CCP during the 20-21 school year.  If you are interested in taking CCP classes next school year, it is MANDATORY for you to attend one of the meetings in order to participate in CCP the following school year. Students will be able to pick up their registration packet only after they have attended a meeting. They will be available the evening of each event (after the presentation) or in the guidance office at BHS.

The dates for CCP Meetings are as follows:

TUESDAY - NOV 19 - 6:30 PM - BHS AUDITORIUM

TUESDAY - DEC 10 - 6:30 PM - BHS AUDITORIUM

Monday, November 11th, 2019

Today we will be observing Veterans Day, a day to salute those who gave of themselves to serving our country.  Now, I’d like to read some excerpts from the President’s Proclamation:

On November 11, Americans commemorate the service, sacrifice, and immeasurable contributions of our Nation’s veterans who have proudly worn our country’s uniform to defend and preserve our precious liberty.  As we celebrate Veterans Day, we pause to recognize the brave men and women who have fearlessly and faithfully worked to defend the United States and our freedom. Their devotion to duty and patriotism deserves the respect and admiration of our grateful Nation each and every day.  We are forever thankful for the many heroes among us who have bravely fought around the world to protect us all.

Time after time, throughout the history of our Republic, veterans have defended our way of life with integrity, dedication, and distinction.  In respectful recognition of the contributions our service members have made to advance peace and freedom around the world, the Congress has provided (5 U.S.C. 6103(a)) that November 11 of each year shall be set aside as a legal public holiday to honor our Nation’s veterans.  As Commander in Chief of our heroic Armed Forces, I humbly thank our veterans and their families for their willingness to answer the call of duty and for their unwavering love of country. Today, we pledge always to fight for those who have fought for us, our veterans, who represent the best of America.  They deserve our prayers, our unending support, and our eternal gratitude.

Coy would like to thank our staff members who have served in the armed forces:

Jenni Mann, John Smith, Josh Becker, Clark Bruggers, and Officer Todd Suchy

We ask that you stand for a moment of silence to honor the men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country.  Today, we salute those who have lost their lives from the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard with a moment of silence.”

Thank you, and now, please remain standing and direct your attention to the flag as we say the pledge of allegiance.

What’s going on in the building?

Tomorrow, we will be completing three very important and state required safety drills at Coy and Trebein.  With the help of Beavercreek Police Department and Greene County Sheriff Department, we will be practicing our lockdown drill, evacuation drill, and bus evacuation drill tomorrow morning.  The temperatures are expected to be below freezing tomorrow morning. It is very important that all students and staff dress warmly for this drill as we will be going outside for a portion of our drill.  Everyone is highly encouraged to bring a coat, gloves, and a hat with them tomorrow to school to use for our drill!
